Fumaça  Waterfall

Fumaça waterfall / Cachoeira da Fumaça

The Fumaça waterfall is a unique spectacle in the world due to the grandiosity and majesty of the scenery. The trail that leads to the fall has its origin in diamond mining of last century spread in the hydrographic  of the rivers Capivara, Palmital, Capivarí and Caldeirão. The trail  to the top of Fumaça waterfall  last - 6 hours of hiking. 12 km (two ways), level of difficulty average with double difference of 350 meters. The beginning of the trail that leads to one of the largest waterfalls in Brazil, with 340 meters of freefall is in the Campos, near the village. After registering in the Vale do Capão guide association  we started the ascent, ascending slope of 350 meters, until we reach the plateau  where we have a privileged view of the entire Capão Valley and the Sincorá mountain on the western side of the PNCD.  Rich in bromeliads, orchids and cactus.  In the dry season, from September to December, the waterfall is left with little water and the wind takes back the drops forming the famous "smoke".
